Burger King Proud Sponsor of 2003 Summer Olympic Games
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (March 25, 2003) – This summer, the Garden State will be transformed into Mount Olympus.
The 2003 Olympic Games will be held from August 13-29 in East Orange, N.J. East Orange has been preparing for a long time to welcome the Olympic Games. Construction of the facilities where the games will be held began three years ago.
Burger King is proud to be one of the main sponsors for this year’s Summer Games. Burger King has announced they will introduce new “Olympic-sized” specialty meals during the event, such as the “Discus Burger” and “Gold Metal Fries.” Bobby Flay will serve as head chef for Burger King at the Games. For a chance to attend the games, passes can be applied for at any Burger King location in New Jersey. Drawings will be held in May. Three thousand passes will be issued free of charge from Burger King.
Fifteen hundred athletes will represent 35 countries in this year’s games. An estimated 20,000 people will attend to watch top athletes from around the world compete for the gold.
An estimated 12 million meals will be served to athletes and spectators. An entire food village will be set up and ready to serve the estimated 50,000 meals a day. Food from all over the world will be included.
Burger King is hoping to be at the top of everyone’s meal choice list. At the events, Burger King estimates that it will use 25,000 hamburger buns and 100,000 sodas a day. Throughout the event, Burger King estimates to serve 2 tons of French fries. Bobby Flay will serve as head chef for Burger King at the Games.
